چکیده
This study develops three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) models of composite retrofits in deficient reinforced concrete (RC) columns and frames. The aim is to investigate critical cases RC with inadequate lap splices bars or corroded steel reinforcements the beneficial effects external FRP jacketing avoid their premature failure structural collapse. Similarly, RC-frame FE explore an innovative intervention that includes orthoblock brick infill wall advanced seismic joint made highly deformable polymer at boundary interface frame. experimental validation technique frames presented earlier published papers by authors (as well as for a four-column structure), revealing potential extend contribution infills high displacement ductility levels frames, while exhibiting limited damages. analytical results compare available results. Therefore, this study’s research extends reinforcements, without joints. pseudodynamic analyses reveal different reinforcement detailing columns, lap-spliced may be more detrimental isolated than It seems additional regions are engaged redistribution damage observed. somewhat greater bare all frame considered corroded. Further, prior damages risk collapse receive retrofit achieve higher base shear load original bars, comparable top ductility. Finally, utilized propose modified design equations strength chord rotation deficiencies structures.

OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OF COMPOSITE BUILDING FRAMES WITH RC COLUMNS AND STEEL BEAMS
Composite RCS building frames integrate reinforced concrete columns with structural steel beams to provide an efficient solution for the design and construction of earthquake-resisting structures. In this paper, an optimization framework is developed for performance-based seismic design of planar RCS moment resisting frames. The objective functions are defined as minimizing the construction cos...
متن کاملan investigation on seismic design indicators of rc columns using finite element analyses
the main cause of structural damage in buildings subjected to seismic actions is lateral drift. in almost all reinforced concrete (rc) structures, whether designed with walls or frames, it is likely to be the code drift limits that control the design drift. the design drift limits and their contribution to damage may be represented indirectly through the material strain limits. the aim of this ...

Performance-based seismic design (PBSD) method has been widely recognized in recent years, it can be used for the future structural design. And the direct displacement-based design method (DDBD) is one of the most effective ways to implement the performance-based seismic design (PBSD) theory in current. In this paper, aiming to the composite frame consisting of composite beams and continuous co...
متن کاملInvestigation of Nonlinear Behavior of Composite Bracing Structures with Concrete Columns and Steel Beams (RCS) Applying Finite Element Method
The composite structural system (RCS) is a new type of moment frame, which is including a combination of concrete columns (RC) and steel beams (S). These structural systems have the advantages of both concrete and steel frames [1]. In previous research on composite structures, there are some studies regarding RCS composite conections, but there is no investigation about seismic resisting system...
متن کاملLocal Damage Indices of Frames Consisting of Composite Beams and RC Columns
Abstract: The study is to propose the local damage indices of composite frame structures consisting of high-strength concrete columns confined by continuous compound spiral ties and steel beams (CCSTRCS), the local damage indices would lay a foundation for the study of the overall damage indices for composite CCSTRCS frame. The Mehanny damage model has been modified to predict the local damage ...
