Morphological characterization of the tooth/adhesive interface.
The purpose of this study was to assess the morphological characteristics of the tooth/adhesive interface using different adhesive systems in MOD restorations under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The tested hypothesis was that the morphology of the bonding interface would vary in different areas of MOD restorations for the three adhesive systems. MOD cavities were prepared in 12 sound extr...
متن کاملRate-Dependent Fracture at Adhesive Interface
Schallamach’s theory of rate-dependent bond dissociation is used to understand the fracture of a polymerglass interface. The model system consists of an elastomeric film (20 μm thick) of poly(dimethylsiloxane), chemically bonded to a silanized glass substrate. The fracture energy of the interface varies logarithmically with velocity, which is consistent with Schallamach’s theory of forced bond ...
متن کاملQuantitative comparison of permeability in the adhesive interface of four adhesive systems
Since the acid-etch technique for bonding to the tooth substrate had been introduced, adhesive dentistry evolved rapidly due to two main reasons; esthetic satisfaction and minimal invasiveness. Some retrospective clinical studies have showed the favorable durability of resin restoration over 10 years. However, the majority of bonded restorations are disadvantaged by their early failure during s...
متن کاملThe adhesive properties of coacervated recombinant hybrid mussel adhesive proteins.
Marine mussels attach to substrates using adhesive proteins. It has been suggested that complex coacervation (liquid-liquid phase separation via concentration) might be involved in the highly condensed and non-water dispersed adhesion process of mussel adhesive proteins (MAPs). However, as purified natural MAPs are difficult to obtain, it has not been possible to experimentally validate the coa...
متن کاملAdhesive Categories
We introduce adhesive categories, which are categories with structure ensuring that pushouts along monomorphisms are well-behaved. Many types of graphical structures used in computer science are shown to be examples of adhesive categories. Double-pushout graph rewriting generalises well to rewriting on arbitrary adhesive categories.
