Adhesive bonding of secondary steel components for offshore wind turbines

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Offshore wind turbines consist of the main components tower, nacelle and rotor blades. Additionally, numerous secondary are connected to primary structure. These include amongst others boat landings, platforms, cable protection tubes corrosion systems. Usually, these elements structure by welding or bolts. Both joining techniques reduce fatigue performance inducing geometric and/or metallurgical notches. In contrast, fastening adhesive bonding, no notches induced in Furthermore, bonding can be carried out directly on coating. contrast welded bolted joints, adhesively bonded joints require a differing geometry that allows large areas. This paper highlights results experimental investigations regarding load bearing behaviour under combination lateral bending varying different geometrical parameters.

Optimization of monopiles for offshore wind turbines.

The offshore wind industry currently relies on subsidy schemes to be competitive with fossil-fuel-based energy sources. For the wind industry to survive, it is vital that costs are significantly reduced for future projects. This can be partly achieved by introducing new technologies and partly through optimization of existing technologies and design methods. One of the areas where costs can be ...

New Guideline for offshore wind turbines

The offshore wind energy market is developing fast. Turbines, substations and offshore sites are increasing in size and they are in more challenging environments. Therefore, the industry requires vigilance in maintaining standards to keep pace with technology developments, enabling safe deployment and long term operation. Certification of wind farms, wind turbines and their components is state-...

Mechanism of Localized Corrosion of Steel Pipe Pile Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbines and Corrosive Action

The wind turbine foundation serves as a permanent construction in the harsh marine corrosive environment, its anticorrosion design is essential to the safe use of the wind turbine structure. At present, there is a significant controversy over the local corrosion mechanism (such as pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion) and its diffusion mechanism in the academic circle. In the paper, the Far...

Design of support structures for offshore wind turbines

Offshore wind is the logical next step in the development of wind energy. With higher wind speeds offshore and the fact that turbines can be placed out of sight, offshore wind helps increase the amount of renewable energy signifi cantly. Offshore wind has been developed through pilot projects in the 1990s and has seen commercial development over the last decade. This chapter shows the developme...

Quantification of Condition Monitoring Benefit for Offshore Wind Turbines

Condition monitoring (CM) systems are increasingly installed in wind turbines with the goal of providing component-specific information to wind farm operators, theoretically increasing equipment availability via maintenance and operating actions based on this information. In the offshore case, economic benefits of CM systems are often assumed to be substantial, as compared with experience of on...
