Adherence to Personal Protective Equipment Against Infectious Diseases Among Healthcare Workers in Arak-Iran

Background: Occupational exposure to blood and body secretions poses a significant risk of COVID-19, HIV, HCV, HBV among healthcare workers (HCWs). Assessment this is necessary for optimized planning policy-making measures. This study aimed assess the occupational factors emergency HCWs. Methods: cross-sectional was performed on HCWs working in 3 educational hospitals affiliated with Arak University Medical Sciences. The sample included all wards who met inclusion criteria. data were collected using valid reliable researcher-made questionnaire analyzed through analytical tests SPSS software. Results: 116 studied 97 nurses 19 physicians medical specialties. mean age 31.06 4.7 years work experience (207.8 hours per month) at patient bedside. results indicated that needlestick injuries have positive negative relationship job history (p=0.001) month-averaged (p=0.012), respectively. 96.6% stated wearing gloves not necessary, 59.9% they do use protective glasses due decrease their vision, while 50% did gowns lack ward. 63.8%, 57.8%, 50%, 56% 54.3% participants expressed shift work, high number hospitalized patients crowded ward, need high-speed working, load, an increase hours, low consent as most important leading increment transmitted diseases, Conclusion: It design national surveillance systems report exposed cases develop measures strategic plans considering effects secretions.
