Effective plays a key part ensuring the continuity, quality, of care.1 SBAR (situation, background, assessment, recommendation) provides structured approach endorsed by hospital policy.2 It can make handovers quicker yet more effective, thereby releasing time clinical care. Handover should be ensure continuity care.3 The aim this Quality Improvement Project was compare given between anaesthesia residents using an internationally defined template (Association Anaesthetists), followed training package re-audit. Methods: Eight operating lists on 5 days with total 120 were checked information at handover. This cross international standards proforma. After first audit, received checklist provided each room. Later on, loop audit done check compliance. number assessed 131. Results: There 23 when performed; 26.1 % (n=6) female 73.9% (n=17) male. Intraoperative patient information handover between anesthesia providers
Currently, no reported studies have evaluated intraoperative handover among anesthesia providers. Studies on anesthetic handover in the US recovery room setting observed that handover processes are insufficient and, in many instances, significant intraoperative events are disregarded. An online survey tool was sent to anesthesia providers at US anesthesia residency programs nationwide (120 out ...

BACKGROUND The implementation of the European Working Time Directive has meant the introduction of shift patterns of working for junior doctors. BACKGROUND During sign-out (handover of care), information and responsibility about patients is transferred from one set of caregivers to another. Few residency training programmes formally teach resident physicians how to sign out or assess their ability to sign out, and little research has examined the sign-out process. OBJECTIVE To characterise the effectiveness of the sign-out process bet...
