چکیده
Carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP) is a rare metastatic disease in which tumor site cannot be identified. CUP diagnosis exclusion requiring prior workup to identify site. We present case 64-year-old male with vague abdominal pain, history gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), gastritis, esophagitis, hepatitis C, alcoholic pancreatitis, liver hemangioma, and Warthin tumor, family cancer that was found have CUP. The made after an extensive done including serum markers, computed tomography (CT) ultrasound (US) imaging, flow cytometry, array immunohistochemistry stains positive for only cytokeratin 7.

BACKGROUND Metastatic cancer of unknown primary site occupies 0.5-10% of all diagnosed cancer patients and includes various tumors with diverse responses to systemic chemotherapy. Adenocarcinoma of unknown primary site (ACUPS), the most common subtype, has no standard treatment, rarely responds to conventional treatment and has a poor survival rate. METHODS The retrospective study was perform...
متن کاملDiagnosis and management of neck metastases from an unknown primary.
Neck lymph node metastases from occult primary constitute about 5%-10% of all patients with carcinoma of unknown primary site. Metastases in the upper and middle neck (levels I-II-III-V) are generally attributed to head and neck cancers, whereas the lower neck (level IV) involvement is often associated with primaries below the clavicles. Diagnostic procedures include a careful clinical evaluati...

Patients with this disease commonly present with urinary frequency and hesitancy, nocturia, and dysuria secondary to tumor enlargement. We present the case of a 60-year-old man with multiple-site biopsy proven metastatic prostate cancer that presented with neither...

Cancer of unknown primary site (CUP) is a common heterogeneous clinicopathologic syndrome, but investigations and publications regarding these patients are rare. For the last 20 years, empiric "broad-spectrum" chemotherapy has been the standard therapy for the majority of these patients. More recently, improved immunocytochemistry and advent of gene-expression profiling have provided the diagno...
متن کاملManagement of patients with cancer of unknown primary site.
Cancer of unknown primary site represents approximately 3% to 5% of all new cancer diagnoses. Adenocarcinomas account for 60% of all unknown primary cancers and poorly differentiated carcinomas or adenocarcinomas, for 30%. Historically, the prognosis for most patients with unknown primary tumors has been poor, with survival often less than 6 months from diagnosis. Recent advances in diagnostic ...
