Addressing the critical parameters for overdamped underwater electrical explosion of wire

Experimental and magnetohydrodynamic numerical simulation results analysis of a μs- sub- μs-timescale overdamped underwater electrical explosion copper wires having different lengths diameters are presented. For these explosions, ∼80% the energy stored in pulse generator is deposited into wire during time comparable or shorter than quarter period underdamped discharge. It was found that threshold values density, density rate, per unit area, which satisfy discharge, depend on parameters timescale explosion. shown mechanism responsible for this process experiences phase transitions to low-ionized plasma, resistivity determined by electron–neutral collision which, turn, depends radial expansion velocity, current temperature.
