Additional Food Causes Predators to Explode — Unless the Predators Compete

چکیده

The literature posits that an introduced predator population, is able to drive it's target pest population extinct, if supplemented with high quality additional food of quantity $\xi > \xi_{critical}$, \cite{SP11, SPV18, SPD17, SPM13}. We show this approach leads infinite time blow-up the population. propose alternate model in which induces competition. Analysis herein indicates there are threshold values $c^{*}_{1} < c^{*}_{2} c^{*}_{3}$ competition parameter $c$, s.t. when $c c^{*}_{1}$, free state globally stable, $c^{*}_{2} c c^{*}_{3}$, bi-stability possible, and $c^{*}_{3} c$, up three interior equilibriums could exist. As $c$ $\xi$-$c$ varied, standard co-dimension one two bifurcations observed. recent dynamical systems involving competition, report several non-standard such as saddle-node-transcritical bifurcation (SNTC) occurring \cite{KSV10, BS07}, cusp-transcritical (CPTC) three, \cite{D20, BS07}. our structural symmetries can be exploited construct a SNTC two, CPTC also two. further use these novel pitchfork-transcritical (PTC) thus explicitly characterizing new organizing center model. Dynamics homoclinic orbits, concurrently limit cycles, driven Turing patterns Our findings indicate increasing predator-pest models, hinder bio-control, contrary some literature. However, bio-control scenarios, complements work \cite{H21, B98, K04, D20, BS07, VH19}.

Global dynamics of an additional food provided predator-prey system with constant harvest in predators

The article aims to study the global dynamics associated with a predator prey system when the predator is provided with additional food and harvested at a constant rate. This study supplements the existing literature on the dynamics of additional food provided predator prey system by focusing on the consequences of harvesting the predators. It presents a comprehensive view on the entire range o...

Bacterial predators

Who would be at your ideal conference? I’d love to be marooned on a desert island (with whiteboards, or at least a smooth sandy beach to scribble on) with Michael Lynch, Ralph Greenspan, Norbert Perrimon, John Mattick, Michael Wade, Thomas Whitham, Sara Via and Allen Moore. Perrimon, Mattick and Greenspan each have their own unique perspectives on how complex gene networks might work, while Whi...

Alien vs. predator: bacterial challenge alters coral microbiomes unless controlled by Halobacteriovorax predators

Coral microbiomes are known to play important roles in organismal health, response to environmental stress, and resistance to disease. The coral microbiome contains diverse assemblages of resident bacteria, ranging from defensive and metabolic symbionts to opportunistic bacteria that may turn harmful in compromised hosts. However, little is known about how these bacterial interactions influence...

Learning associations involving predators and non-predators in infancy

Fear is one of the most universal human emotions and many common fears, such as aversions toward predatory animals, has been observed cross-culturally. Previous research has indicated that humans have an evolved predator detection mechanism (Mineka & Ohman, 2002). The present research explored this innate predator detection mechanism in infants by testing whether they are able to learn associat...
