Adaptive process control for achieving consistent particles' states in atmospheric plasma spray process

Abstract The coatings produced by an atmospheric plasma spray process (APSP) must be of uniform quality. However, the complexity and random introduction noise variables such as fluctuations in powder injection rate arc voltage make it difficult to control coating quality that has been shown depend upon mean values particles’ temperature speed, collectively called states (MPSs), just before they impact substrate. Here, we use a science-based methodology develop stable adaptive controller for achieving consistent MPSs thereby decrease manufacturing cost. We first identify inputs into APSP significantly affect then formulate relationship between these two quantities. When deviate from their desired values, is successfully adjust input parameters correct them. performance tested via numerical experiments using software, LAVA-P, well simulate APSP.
