چکیده
• A strategy of adaptive laboratory evolution in hydrolysate-based medium was developed. Evolved strains Rhodosporidium toruloides presented better tolerance to inhibitors. The strain’s ability accumulate lipids and produce carotenoids also improved. Whole genome sequencing revealed tolerance-related genes the wild-type strain. Using lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysate for production microbial is still a challenge due poor oleaginous yeasts inhibitors generated during pretreatment. In this study, developed improve present hydrolysate. evolved performance grow medium, with significant reduction their lag phases, improved when compared starting best cases, phase reduced by 72 h resulted lipid accumulation 27.89 ± 0.80% (dry cell weight) carotenoid 14.09 0.12 mg/g weight). analysis indicated that strain naturally contained genes, which provided background allowed evolve biomass-derived

Purification and characterization of a cephalosporin esterase from Rhodosporidium toruloides.
A novel cephalosporin esterase (EC 3.1.1.41) from Rhodosporidium toruloides was purified to gel electrophoretic homogeneity. The enzyme is a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 80 kDa. Upon deglycosylation, several forms of the enzyme were observed with a molecular mass range between 60 and 66 kDa. The isoelectric point of the enzyme is approximately 5.6, with the pH optimum for activity occu...
متن کاملThe Production, Regulation and Extraction of Carotenoids from Rhodosporidium toruloides
Carotenoids are valuable pigments of commercial interest for various health benefits. There is rising demand for natural carotenoids from microorganisms, although the majority of industrially produced carotenoids are currently chemically synthesized. Rhodosporidium toruloides is oleaginous red yeast, which can produce large amounts of carotenoids and lipids simultaneously. It is also able to as...
متن کاملLipid production by Rhodosporidium toruloides Y2 in bioethanol wastewater and evaluation of biomass energetic yield.
The oleaginous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides Y2 was employed to remove waste nutrients from bioethanol wastewater while simultaneously producing biomass enriched in microbial lipids. Under optimal conditions, the COD degradation ratio, biomass and lipid content reached 72.3%, 3.8 g/l and 34.9%, respectively. For accelerating biomass and lipid accumulation, different feeding strategies of subs...

BACKGROUND Industrial biotechnology that is able to provide environmentally friendly bio-based products has attracted more attention in replacing petroleum-based industries. Currently, most of the carbon sources used for fermentation-based bioprocesses are obtained from agricultural commodities that are used as foodstuff for human beings. Lignocellulose-derived sugars as the non-food, green, an...
