Adaptive-Combining-Based Hybrid FSO/RF Satellite Communication With and Without HAPS

چکیده

In recent years, a growing interest has been witnessed in the usage of free space optics (FSO) link for satellite communication (SATCOM) scenarios, as it offers much higher data rates up to gigabits per second (Gbps) compared existing radio frequency (RF) link. However, FSO links are sensitive beam scintillation and pointing errors. this paper, we consider hybrid FSO/RF between ground station (GS) satellite, where RF will act backup improve reliability communication. addition, also high-altitude platform (HAPS), which relay station, GS end-to-end system performance. This led development space-air-ground integrated SATCOM networks. We analyse performance proposed network considering an adaptive-combining-based switching scheme both uplink downlink scenarios with without using HAPS station. case scheme, is continuously transmitted over link, while maximal-ratio-combining (MRC) performed when quality deteriorates. The analysis terms outage average symbol error rate (SER) carried out same single-link single-threshold-based literature SATCOM. gain obtained by adaptive combining different channel conditions reported. Further, asymptotic obtain diversity system.

Satellite Communication without Privacy

In this paper we highlight the fact that a huge amount of information is sent unsecured via satellite broadcast data channels (here: encapsulated in DVB-s). By applying straightforward data analysis it is possible for any attacker equipped with a digital satellite dish and a DVB card PC to derive extensive confidential information on single users (e.g., legal name, banking details, monthly inco...

Channel modeling for satellite and HAPS system design

This paper reviews the state of the art and current trends towards 3G and 3GC mobile satellite systems that are being planned in parallel or within the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT-2000) framework. The subject is firstly approached by introducing the key and enabling technologies both for satellites and high altitude platform stations. After having introduced an overall picture,...

Adaptive Beamforming for OFDM Based Hybrid Mobile Satellite System

Global connectivity cannot be guaranteed by terrestrial networks due to the lack of infrastructure in rural areas. Neither can satellite networks assure this due to lack of signal penetration and capacity coverage issues in densely populated areas. To bridge this gap, we propose an Orthogonal Frequency Domain (OFDM) based hybrid architecture where users are provided service by existing mobile n...
