چکیده
Global warming has reduced the extent of permafrost, increased permafrost temperatures, and deepened active layer across Arctic. Permafrost degradation detrimental effects on infrastructure negative impacts ecosystem services for many Arctic communities. This study examines adaptive capacity managing in Northwest Greenland. The methods are based questionnaire interview data from fieldwork, frozen ground temperature records published forecasting deepening layer. Results illustrate impact physical environment, hunting harvesting, housing, economy House owners mending damage caused by movement, local institutions concerned with maintenance roads other public impacted permafrost. scientific knowledge needed to inform decision-making is useful identifying overall changes, but existing sources scarce, more detailed maps long-term town planning. concludes that individuals engage autonomous adaptation an ad hoc basis, rather than pursuing strategy increase advance future

Infrasound analysis of I18DK, northwest Greenland
Within the scope of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), four methods are used to verify the treaty. One of these methods is based on the detection of infrasound waves generated by a nuclear explosion. Seismological, hydroacoustical and radionuclide measurements are also applied. The International Monitoring System (IMS) will consist of 60 infrasound stations of which 35 stations a...

This workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge needed to manage a DSpace repository. It will cover essential administration and maintenance tasks but will not focus on the more technical details of installing and customizing the software. We will focus on DSpace version 1.4.2 but we will also introduce some of the changes and new features offered in version 1.5. Target audience: site a...
متن کاملHow do Systems Manage Their Adaptive Capacity to Successfully Handle Disruptions? A Resilience Engineering Perspective
A large body of research describes the importance of adaptability for systems to be resilient in the face of disruptions. However, adaptive processes can be fallible, either because systems fail to adapt in situations requiring new ways of functioning, or because the adaptations themselves produce undesired consequences. A central question is then: how can systems better manage their capacity t...
متن کاملGovernance and Capacity to Manage Resilience of Health Systems: Towards a New Conceptual Framework
The term resilience has dominated the discourse among health systems researchers since 2014 and the onset of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. There is wide consensus that the global community has to help build more resilient health systems. But do we really know what resilience means, and do we all have the same vision of resilience? The present paper presents a new conceptual framework on go...
