چکیده

Abstract Background Low temperature severely depresses the uptake, translocation from root to shoot, and metabolism of nitrate ammonium in thermophilic plants such as cucumber ( Cucumis sativus ). Plant growth is inhibited accordingly. However, availability information on effects low nitrogen transport remains limited. Results Using non-invasive micro-test technology, net (NO 3 ? ) (NH 4 + fluxes hair zone vascular bundles primary root, stem, petiole, midrib, lateral vein, shoot tip seedlings under normal (NT; 26 °C) (LT; 8 treatment were analyzed. Under LT treatment, NO flux rate decreased, whereas NH increased. Accordingly, relative expression CsNRT1.4a petiole midrib was down-regulated, CsAMT1.2a – 1.2c up-regulated. The results 15 N isotope tracing showed that -N uptake decreased significantly compared with NT concentration proportion both distributed decreased. actual reductase activity (NRA act did not change significantly, NRA stem increased by 113.2 96.2%, respectively. Conclusions higher leaves young tissues may reflect which result a being reduced during upward transportation . contribute an improved understanding mechanism changes response low-temperature stress.

Changes of glutamine and asparagine content in cucumber seedlings in response to nitrate stress

Nitrogen fertilizer application rates in intensive agricultural systems have increased dramatically in recent years, especially in protected vegetable production systems. This excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer has resulted in soil secondary salinity, which has become a significant environmental stress for crops such as cucumber, in the protected farmlands. It is thus necessary to illuminate ...

Evaluation of low temperature tolerance indices in seedlings of Citrus aurantium under potassium nitrate nutrition.

In order to evaluate the effects of potassium nitrate nutrition on some low temperature tolerance indices in Citrus aurantium seedlings a factorial experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design with four replications at the Institute of Citrus Research in Ramsar. Treatments were potassium nitrate nutrition at four levels (0, 2.5, 5, and 10 mM) and temperature at four levels (...

Adaptation to osmotic stress provides protection against ammonium nitrate in Pelophylax perezi embryos.

The negative effects of pollution on amphibians are especially high when animals are additionally stressed by other environmental factors such as water salinity. However, the stress provoked by salinity may vary among populations because of adaptation processes. We tested the combined effect of a common fertilizer, ammonium nitrate (0-90.3 mg N-NO3NH4/L), and water salinity (0-2 per thousand) o...

Nitrate transport and ammonium-nitrate interactions at high nitrate concentrations and low temperature

The unplications of the operation of biphasic nitrate transport and the effects of low temperature incubations on phytoplankton N-physiology are discussed. The inclusion of 2 nitrate transport systems (low rate, high affinity; high rate, low affinity) with different regulatory thresholds and temperature-dependent steps can be included readily in the structure of existing mechanistic models of N...

Response of photosynthesis in the leaves of cucumber seedlings to light intensity and CO2 concentration under nitrate stress

The effects of 2 nitrate levels, 14 (CK) and 140 mmol L (T), on the leaf gas exchange variables of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. Xintaimici) seedlings grown in hydroponic culture were investigated. Photosynthetic lightand CO2-response curves from CK and T seedlings were determined and used for the analysis of photosynthetic capacity. The results showed that nitrate stress resulted in a signi...
