Acute renal failure due to renal lymphomatous infiltration as the initial manifestation
A male patient with acute renal failure (ARF) due to large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma infiltration of kidney is presented. The diagnosis was suspected because of coincidence of ARF and tumor lysis syndrome non-responsive to conservative renal therapies. A renal biopsy confirmed diagnosis and appropriate chemotherapy led to complete improvement of renal function.
متن کاملSpontaneous perinephric haemorrhage and acute renal failure in pregnancy due to cocaine intoxication
Cocaine abuse may contribute to the diverse forms of renal injury. We report a case of a pregnant woman who developed a large subcapsular renal haematoma after cocaine intoxication at 18-week gestation. She stabilized on conservative management and presented again at 29-week gestation with pre-eclampsia, acute renal failure and fetal demise. She required caesarean section delivery and intensive...
متن کاملAcute renal failure due to rhabdomyolysis associated with use of a straitjacket in lysergide intoxication.
Acute renal failure is a known sequel to rhabdomyolysis, both traumatic and non-traumatic. Two patients who had been placed in straitjackets after taking lysergide (LSD) developed acute renal failure and rhabdomyolysis. One subsequently died. The rhabdomyolysis probably resulted from a combination of severe restraint and the violent movements induced by the drug. The use of straitjackets cannot...
متن کاملAcute renal failure following copper sulphate intoxication.
Eleven out of a series of twenty-nine patients (37-9%) with acute copper sulphate poisoning developed acute renal failure. Intravascular haemolysis appeared to be the chief factor responsible for renal lesions in these patients. Histological lesions observed in the kidney varied from those of mild shock to well established acute tubular necrosis. In one case, granulomatous lesions were seen in ...
متن کاملAcute renal failure and lithium intoxication.
A case of acute renal failure is reported in a patient with severe lithium intoxication. Renal biopsy showed damage in the proximal tubules with less marked changes in the glomeruli and interlobular arteries. Lithium was withdrawn, and after treatment with peritoneal dialysis the patient regained normal renal function. "' The accumulation of lithium is known to lead to acute renal failure in th...
