Acute progression of the leukemic phase in mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome

چکیده
Cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCLs) are a heterogeneous group of skin neoplasms that vary in presentation, histology, and prognosis. The most common subtype is mycosis fungoides (MF), which can range presentation from patch or plaque stage to tumor stage.1 Early-stage MF typically entails limited disease, without any nodal extracutaneous involvement. Usually, it follows an indolent course, with normal life expectancy, although progression disease death occur subset patients.

Mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome.
Mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome are the most common of the cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, which are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms that affect the skin as a primary site. Although the aetiologies of mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome are unknown, important insights have been gained in the immunological and genetic perturbations that are associated with these diseases. Unlike some B-ce...

Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) is an umbrella term that encompasses a group of neoplasms that have atypical T-lymphocytes in the skin. Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common type of CTCL and Sézary syndrome (SS) is the leukemic form. Treatment for CTCL is dependent on the stage of disease and response to previous therapy. Therapy is divided into skin-directed treatment, which tends to be f...

متن کاملSimplified flow cytometric assessment in mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome.
By using flow cytometry with markers for CD3, CD4, CD26, and CD7, we examined the blood samples of 109 patients for abnormal T cells: 69 patients with mycosis fungoides (MF)/Sézary syndrome (SS), 31 hospitalized control subjects, and 9 patients with inflammatory skin disease. T cells were identified as quantitatively abnormal (>15% CD26- or CD7- T cells) or phenotypically abnormal (CD26- or CD7...
متن کاملHow I treat mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome.
The most common subtypes of primary cutaneous T-cell lymphomas are mycosis fungoides (MF) and Sézary syndrome (SS). The majority of patients have indolent disease; and given the incurable nature of MF/SS, management should focus on improving symptoms and cosmesis while limiting toxicity. Management of MF/SS should use a "stage-based" approach; treatment of early-stage disease (IA-IIA) typically...
