an Argument Learning Environment Using Agent-Based ITS (ALES)
This paper presents an agent-based educational environment to teach argument analysis (ALES). The idea is based on the Argumentation Interchange Format Ontology (AIF) using ”Walton Theory”. ALES uses different mining techniques to manage a highly structured arguments repertoire. This repertoire was designed, developed and implemented by us. Our aim is to extend our previous framework proposed i...
متن کاملAn Argument-Based Approach to Using Multiple Ontologies
Logic-based argumentation offers an approach to querying and revising multiple ontologies that are inconsistent or incoherent. A common assumption for logic-based argumentation is that an argument is a pair 〈Φ,α〉 where Φ is a minimal subset of the knowledgebase such that Φ is consistent and Φ entails the claimα. Using dialogue games, agents (each with its own ontology) can exchange arguments an...
متن کاملConstruction as a Theoretical Entity : An Argument Based on Mandarin Existential Sentences
The role that constructions play in a linguistic theory has changed throughout the evolution of generative theories. Construction specific rules are common when transformations are envisioned as tree to tree operations in classical TG. On the other extreme, constructions, as well as all structural properties, are regarded as derived linguistic properties predictable from various principles in r...
متن کاملArgument Structure in Fluid Construction Grammar
Construction grammar theories argue that the selection and realization of a verb's arguments is largely taken care of by constructions, as opposed to lexicalist theories which constrain the argument structure of a verb in the lexicon. So far, however, no operational definition has been given which shows how this ‘fusion’ of a verb’s arguments with the roles of a construction can be achieved. Th...
متن کاملAn implementation of argument based discussion
With the current demonstrator, we present an implementation of formal argumentation that is not only able to evaluate an argument according to standard argumentation semantics, but is also able to engage in a discussion to defend its answer. This discussion is formal yet natural enough to be applicable in agent-to-agent as well as in agent-to-human settings.
