چکیده
Abstract Background Stroke produces multiple symptoms, including sensory, motor, cognitive and psychological dysfunctions, among which motor deficit is the most common widely recognized as a major contributor to long-term functional disability. Robot-assisted training effective in promoting upper extremity muscle strength impairment recovery after stroke. Additionally, action observation treatment can enhance effects of physical occupational therapy by increasing neural activation. The AOT-EXO trial aims investigate whether coupled with robot-assisted could circuit activation improve outcomes. Methods multicentre, prospective, three-group randomized controlled (RCT). We will screen enrol 132 eligible patients implemented Department Rehabilitation Medicine Tongji Hospital, Optical Valley Branch Hospital Hubei Province Integrated Chinese & Western Wuhan, China. Prior study participation, written informed consent be obtained from accordance Declaration Helsinki. enrolled stroke three groups: CT group (conventional therapy); EXO (exoskeleton therapy) (action treatment-based exoskeleton therapy). undergo blinded assessments at baseline, post-intervention (after 4 weeks) follow-up 12 weeks). primary outcome Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremity (FMA-UE). Secondary outcomes include Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), modified Barthel Index (MBI), kinematic metrics assessed inertial measurement unit (IMU), resting threshold (rMT), evoked potentials (MEP), magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) safety Discussion This provide evidence regarding feasibility efficacy (AOT-EXO) post-stroke rehabilitation elucidate potential underlying neurological mechanisms. Virtual reality training for upper extremity in subacute stroke (VIRTUES): study protocol for a randomized controlled multicenter trial
BACKGROUND Novel virtual reality rehabilitation systems provide the potential to increase intensity and offer challenging and motivating tasks. The efficacy of virtual reality systems to improve arm motor function early after stroke has not been demonstrated yet in sufficiently powered studies. The objective of the study is to investigate whether VR training as an adjunct to conventional therap...
متن کاملPhone-based Intervention under Nurse Guidance after Stroke (PINGS): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Hypertension is the premier modifiable risk factor for recurrent stroke. In sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) where the stroke burden is escalating, little is known about the role of behavioral interventions in enhancing blood pressure (BP) control after stroke. Our objective is to test whether an m-Health technology-enabled, nurse-led, multilevel integrated approach is effective in improving...
متن کاملDoes motivation matter in upper-limb rehabilitation after stroke? ArmeoSenso-Reward: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Fifty percent of all stroke survivors remain with functional impairments of their upper limb. While there is a need to improve the effectiveness of rehabilitative training, so far no new training approach has proven to be clearly superior to conventional therapy. As training with rewarding feedback has been shown to improve motor learning in humans, it is hypothesized that rehabilita...

This paper presents the performance characterization of the MAHI Exo-II, an upper extremity exoskeleton for stroke and spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation, as a means to validate its clinical implementation and to provide depth to the literature on the performance characteristics of upper extremity exoskeletons. Individuals with disabilities arising from stroke and SCI need rehabilitation o...

Background: Locomotor training using body weight support and a treadmill as a therapeutic modality for rehabilitation of walking post-stroke is being rapidly adopted into clinical practice. There is an urgent need for a well-designed trial to determine the effectiveness of this intervention. The objective of the Locomotor Experience Applied Post-Stroke (LEAPS) trial is to determine if there is ...
