Iridoid biosynthesis in staphylinid rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Philonthinae).
The biosynthesis of chrysomelidial and plagiodial was studied in the rove beetle subtribe Philonthina (Staphylinidae). Glandular homogenates were found to convert synthetic (2E,6E)-[trideuteromethyl-5,5-(2)H(5)]octa-2,6-diene-1,8-diol (10) into nor-chrysomelidial (14) and nor-plagiodial (13). The overall transformation requires; i) oxidation of the substrate at C(1) and C(8), ii) cyclization of...
متن کاملrove beetles (coleoptera, staphylinidae) and their medical importance
rove beetle dermatitis produced by the family staphylinidae genus paederus has world- wide distribution some one hundred species of paederus have been found, but it is believed that only 30 of these produce dermatitis. up to 1976 three species of paederus have been found in iran as: p. fusciped curtis; p. pietschmanni bershaner , and p. spectabilis kraatz . observations on the biology of paeder...
متن کاملSpecies composition and zoogeography of the rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) of raised bogs of Belarus
A review of Staphylinidae known from peat bogs of Belarus is presented with data on their distribution at various sites. The staphylinid fauna, as reported here, includes 66 species, 33 genera, and 10 subfamilies. The results showed a low species richness of rove beetles and a high occurrence of a small number of species. The regional zoogeography and composition of rove beetles in the Belarusi...
متن کاملRove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) collected during the long term ecological research in a Hungarian oak forest.
Along term ecological research was carried out in a Hungarian oak forest, in "Bükk" National Park starting with 1972. During the faunistical studies 3,602 insect species and more than 200,000 individuals were collected. The dominant orders were Coleoptera (1,051 species), Lepidoptera (803 species), Hymenoptera (470 species) and Diptera (400 species). The relative species abundance (RSA) for all...
متن کاملNew pyridine alkaloids from rove beetles of the genus Stenus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae).
Three new pyridine alkaloids were detected in the pygidial glands of some Stenus species. The chemotaxonomic significance of the occurrence of these alkaloids and stenusine in different Stenus species is discussed. The antimicrobial properties of (Z)- and (E)-3-(2-methyl-1-butenyl)-pyridine and the deterrent activities of stenusine and norstenusine were investigated.
