Acting on belief functions

چکیده
Abstract The degrees of belief rational agents should be guided by the evidence available to them. This paper takes as a starting point view—argued elsewhere—that formal model best able capture this idea is one that represents using Dempster–Shafer functions. However, not only respect evidence; they also guide decision and action. Whatever we adopt, need theory works with it: input so represented. task develop such for function belief. first attempt task, but compared existing literature it more abstract route its destination, via consideration very making in light one’s beliefs desires. After presenting new comparing views, goes on consider diachronic situations.

Composition operators acting on weighted Hilbert spaces of analytic functions
In this paper, we considered composition operators on weighted Hilbert spaces of analytic functions and observed that a formula for the essential norm, gives a Hilbert-Schmidt characterization and characterizes the membership in Schatten-class for these operators. Also, closed range composition operators are investigated.
متن کاملOn consistent belief functions
In this paper we define the class of consistent belief functions as the counterparts of consistent knowledge bases in classical logic. We prove that such class can be defined univocally no matter our definition of proposition implied by a belief function. As consistency can be desirable in decision making, the problem of transforming an arbitrary belief function into a consistent one arise, and...
متن کاملOn Belief Functions
The present state of development of Dempster-Shafer theory is surveyed and its place among theories of dealing with uncertainty in AI is discussed. No knowledge of the theory is assumed.
متن کاملBelief functions on lattices
We extend the notion of belief function to the case where the underlying structure is no more the Boolean lattice of subsets of some universal set, but any lattice, which we will endow with a minimal set of properties according to our needs. We show that all classical constructions and definitions (e.g., mass allocation, commonality function, plausibility functions, necessity measures with nest...
متن کاملBelief functions on real numbers
We generalize the TBM (transferable belief model) to the case where the frame of discernment is the extended set of real numbersR = [−∞,∞], under the assumptions that ‘masses’ can only be given to intervals. Masses become densities, belief functions, plausibility functions and commonality functions become integrals of these densities and pignistic probabilities become pignistic densities. The m...
