Acoustic impedance to outcrop: Presenting near-surface seismic data as a virtual outcrop in carbonate analog studies

چکیده
Outcrop analogs play a central role in understanding subseismic interwell depositional facies heterogeneity of carbonate reservoirs. geologists rarely utilize near-surface seismic data due to the limited vertical resolution and difficulty visualizing signals as “band-limited rocks.” This study proposes methodology using combination forward modeling conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) translate seismic-derived acoustic impedance (AI) into pseudo-high-resolution virtual outcrop. We tested on Hanifa reservoir analog outcropping Wadi Birk, Saudi Arabia. interpret 4 km long outcrop photomosaic from digital model (DOM) for its facies, populate DOM with AI properties, calculate band-limited colored inversion. pair synthetic train them cGAN. Sustainability and dynamics of outcrop-to-outcrop hydrothermal circulation
Most seafloor hydrothermal circulation occurs far from the magmatic influence of mid-ocean ridges, driving large flows of water, heat and solutes through volcanic rock outcrops on ridge flanks. Here we create three-dimensional simulations of ridge-flank hydrothermal circulation, flowing between and through seamounts, to determine what controls hydrogeological sustainability, flow rate and prefe...

متن کاملImproving permeability semivariograms with transition probability models of hierarchical sedimentary architecture derived from outcrop analog studies
[1] As analogs for aquifers, outcrops of sedimentary deposits allow sedimentary units to be mapped, permeability to be measured with high resolution, and sedimentary architecture to be related to the univariate and spatial bivariate statistics of permeability. Sedimentary deposits typically can be organized into hierarchies of unit types and associated permeability modes. The types of units and...
متن کاملAutonomous Rock Outcrop Segmentation as a Tool for Science and Exploration Tasks in Surface Operations
Planetary exploration missions have seen continual progress in capability and complexity in recent decades, as programs have developed and technology has advanced. Flyby missions such as the successful Voyager 1 & 21 were followed by capable orbiters with landers, as in Cassini-Huygens.2 In the last two decades, global mapping and long-timescale surveillance of Mars has progressed with orbiter ...
