Accurate Measurement of the Contact Resistance During Internal Short Circuit in Lithium-Ion Batteries

Accurate internal short circuit (ISC) resistance measurement is of vital importance to understanding and modeling the ISC process consequent thermal runaway (TR) behaviors. The current usually cannot quantify contact two directly-involved parties for ISC, measured generally contains additional components (depending on modes). To this end, we propose a novel experimental methodology accurately during ISC. By series auxiliary experiments, exclude contribution from non-direct-contact (but are directly contacted with direct-involving parties). Two representative scenarios i.e., direct electrodes conductive metallic plates electrodes, characterized by proposed methodology. An scenario used validate effectiveness accuracy Results provide powerful tool characterize future possible experiment design theoretical battery safety issues.
