چکیده

Abstract A detailed description is given of how the liquid water content (LWC) and ice (IWC) can be determined accurately absolutely from measured Raman spectra clouds. All instrumental spectroscopic parameters that affect accuracy water-content measurement are discussed quantified; specifically, these effective absolute differential backscattering cross section vapor , molecular efficiencies η liq frozen microparticles, respectively. The latter two following rigorous theoretical approaches combined with Lidar for Atmospheric Moisture Sensing (RAMSES) measurements. For this includes a new experimental method assumes continuity number molecules across vertical extent melting layer. Examples measurements presented, including supercooled liquid-water clouds layers. Error sources discussed; one effect stands out interfering fluorescence by aerosols. Aerosol effects calibration issues main reasons why spectral required quantitative LWC IWC. presented study lays foundation cloud microphysical investigations evaluation models or data products other instruments. As first application, IWC retrieval methods evaluated based on either lidar extinction radar reflectivity While lidar-based retrievals show unsatisfactory agreement RAMSES measurements, radar-based which used in Cloudnet project performs reasonably well. On average, retrieved agrees within 20% to 30% (dry bias)

MLS Ice Water Content and Horizontally Finite Clouds

An analysis of uncertainties in retrievals of ice water content (IWC) from the Earth Observing System (EOS) Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) on the NASA Aura satellite is described. Errors in IWC retrievals due to variability in cloud shape and size, and in the relative position of cloud and sensor are investigated through analysis of data from simulations of MLS observations of high-altitude cloud...

A new way to measure cirrus cloud ice water content by using ice Raman scatter with Raman lidar

[1] To improve our understanding of cirrus cloud radiative impact on the current and future climate, improved knowledge of cirrus cloud microphysical properties is needed. However, long-term studies of the problem indicate that accurate cirrus cloud measurements are challenging. This is true for both, remote sensing as well as in situ sampling. This study presents a new method to remotely sense...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

In situ measurements of liquid water content profiles in midlatitude stratiform clouds

Statistical characteristics of 584 liquid water content (LWC) profiles collected mainly in midlatitude supercooled stratiform frontal clouds during five field campaigns are presented. It has been found that the majority (55%) of liquid layers have thickness less than 500 m and the depth of these layers decreases with decreasing temperature. LWC profiles for thin cloud layers are usually close t...
