Accounting for GIA signal in GRACE products

چکیده

SUMMARY The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) observes gravitational potential anomalies that include the effects of present-day surface mass change (PDSMC)- glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA)-driven solid Earth redistribution. Therefore, GIA estimates from a forward model are commonly removed GRACE to estimate PDSMC. There several models facilitate users in using their choice, both products made available terms global gridded fields representing anomaly. GRACE-observed represented equivalent water height (EWH) with relation accounts for an elastic deformation due However, obtaining EWH fields, two relations being used: one is similar used other does not effect. This leaves possibility different values PDSMC given field. In this paper, we discuss impact problem on regional highlight need consistent treatment signals observations.

Effect of GIA models with 3D composite mantle viscosity on GRACE mass balance estimates for Antarctica

Consideration of such variations would affect predictions of models of Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA), which are used to correct satellite measurements of ice mass ch...

Low frequency signal in GRACE data

For more than three years, the GRACE pair of satellites have been orbiting the Earth, monitoring the time variable mass distribution for scales ranging from regional to global. The GRACE data have been released for a broad scientific community and sets of gravity fields are available. This paper shows that there are evidences at interrannual 5 time scales for the presence of ENSO signal in the ...

Antarctic contribution to sea level rise observed by GRACE with improved GIA correction

[1] Antarctic volume changes during the past 21 thousand years are smaller than previously thought, and here we construct an ice sheet history that drives a forward model prediction of the glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) gravity signal. The new model, in turn, should give predictions that are constrained with recent uplift data. The impact of the GIA signal on a Gravity Recovery and Climate ...

A Distributed Approach to Accounting for Carbon in Wood Products

With an evolving political environment of commitments to limit emissions of greenhouse gases, and of markets to trade in emissions permits, there is growing scientific, political, and economic need to accurately evaluate carbon (C) stocks and flows—especially those related to human activities. One component of the global carbon cycle that has been contentious is the stock of carbon that is phys...
