Accommodating False Positives Within Acoustic Spatial Capture–Recapture, with Variable Source Levels, Noisy Bearings and an Inhomogeneous Spatial Density

چکیده

Abstract Passive acoustic monitoring is a promising method for surveying wildlife populations that are easier to detect acoustically than visually. When animal vocalisations can be uniquely identified on an array of sensors, the potential exists estimate population density through spatial capture–recapture (ASCR). However, sound classification imperfect, and in some situations, high proportion sounds detected just single sensor (‘singletons’) not from target species. We present case study bowhead whale calls ( Baleana mysticetus ) collected Beaufort Sea 2010 containing such false positives. propose novel extension ASCR robust positives by truncating singletons conditioning being at least two sensors. allow individual-level detection heterogeneity modelling variable source level, model inhomogeneous call density, include bearings with varying measurement error. show via simulation produces near-unbiased estimates when correctly specified. Ignoring source-level variation resulted strong negative bias, while ignoring severe positive bias. The analysis indicated band higher approximately 30 km shore; 59.8% were estimated have been

Modeling inequality levels with the help of spatial and non-spatial indices in northern Khorasan

This paper aims to explain the inequality and imbalance in the developmental levels of 6 selected cities in North Khorasan. The paper seeks to answer these two questions as to whether the spatial and non-spatial indices in regional disparities have an effect on equality? And can we achieve a functional model based on the evaluation of indicators? In order to achieve the goal and the answer to t...

Dealing with False Positives in Intrusion Detection

Many of today's Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) suffer from high rates of false positives [1]. False positives are a severe problem because investigating them takes time and energy. Even worse, if the load of false positives is too high, security personnel might become negligent and start to ignore alarms. Improving this situation is difficult [1, 2]. One possible solution is to use highly s...

Acoustic Force Density Acting on Inhomogeneous Fluids in Acoustic Fields.

We present a theory for the acoustic force density acting on inhomogeneous fluids in acoustic fields on time scales that are slow compared to the acoustic oscillation period. The acoustic force density depends on gradients in the density and compressibility of the fluid. For microfluidic systems, the theory predicts a relocation of the inhomogeneities into stable field-dependent configurations,...

Specification Mining with Few False Positives

Formal specifications can help with program testing, optimization, refactoring, documentation, and, most importantly, debugging and repair. Unfortunately, formal specifications are difficult to write manually and techniques that infer specifications automatically suffer from 90–99% false positive rates. Consequently, neither option is currently practiced for most software development projects. ...
