A waste collection problem with service type option

چکیده

• A hybrid waste collection system is modeled as an extended periodic location routing problem. New subtour elimination constraints for problems with intermediate facilities are introduced. Factors influencing the service type decision (pickup or bring system) presented. The developed ALNS provides good results also introduction of a pure system. Efficient solid management one most relevant issues urban communities. With regard to household collection, there two approaches in practice: when collecting via door-to-door system, vehicles drive down all streets empty garbage cans on curb. Using accumulated at central sites larger capacity. While residents do have travel additional distance dispose their these sites, can reduce be covered by because they no longer streets. To combine advantages both systems, this article corresponding problem option (WCPSTO) new variant and adaptive large neighborhood search-based solution approach proposed. This not only solves newly presented problem, but outperforms algorithm related seen literature, which special case WCPSTO.

Solving a bi-objective location routing problem by a NSGA-II combined with clustering approach: application in waste collection problem

It is observed that the separated design of location for depots and routing for servicing customers often reach a suboptimal solution. So, solving location and routing problem simultaneously could achieve better results. In this paper, waste collection problem is considered with regard to economic and societal objective functions. A non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is used to l...

Using Metaheuristic Algorithms Combined with Clustering Approach to Solve a Sustainable Waste Collection Problem

Sustainability is a monumental issue that should be considered in designing a logistics system. In order to incorporate sustainability concepts in our study, a waste collection problem with economic, environmental, and social objective functions was addressed. The first objective function minimized overall costs of the system, including establishment of depots and treatment facilities. Addressi...

Waste Collection Vehicle Routing Problem Considering Similarity Pattern of Trashcan

Collection of waste is an important logistic activity within any city. In this study, a mathematical model is proposed in order to reduce the cost of waste collection. First a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model is provided including a waste collection routing problem, so that, there is a balance between the distance between trashcans, and the similarity of the trashcans in terms of th...

A hybrid metaheuristic algorithm for solving a rollon–rolloff waste collection vehicle routing problem considering waste separation and recycling center

This paper addresses a rollon–rolloff waste collection vehicle routing problem which involves large containers that collect huge amounts of waste from construction sites and shopping malls. In this problem, vehicles could only move one container at a time between customers’ locations, a depot, a disposal center, and a recycling center site. Other than a disposal center, a recycling ...

The Automated Vacuum Waste Collection Optimization Problem

One of the most challenging problems on modern urban planning and one of the goals to be solved for smart city design is that of urban waste disposal. Given urban population growth, and that the amount of waste generated by each of us citizens is also growing, the total amount of waste to be collected and treated is growing dramatically (EPA 2011), becoming one sensitive issue for local governm...
