چکیده

A virtual element method (VEM) with the first-order optimal convergence order is developed for solving two-dimensional Maxwell interface problems on a special class of polygonal meshes that are cut by from background unfitted mesh. novel space introduced triangulation mesh satisfying maximum angle condition, which shares exactly same degrees freedom as usual [Formula: see text]-conforming space. This new serves key to prove error bounds VEM independent high aspect ratio possible anisotropic near interface.

The aggregated unfitted finite element method for elliptic problems

Unfitted finite element techniques are valuable tools in different applications where the generation of body-fitted meshes is difficult. However, these techniques are prone to severe ill conditioning problems that obstruct the efficient use of iterative Krylov methods and, in consequence, hinders the practical usage of unfitted methods for realistic large scale applications. In this work, we pr...

L2-Error Analysis of an Isoparametric Unfitted Finite Element Method for Elliptic Interface Problems

In the context of unfitted finite element discretizations the realization of high order methods is challenging due to the fact that the geometry approximation has to be sufficiently accurate. Recently a new unfitted finite element method was introduced which achieves a high order approximation of the geometry for domains which are implicitly described by smooth level set functions. This method ...

A Locally Modified Parametric Finite Element Method for Interface Problems

We present a modified finite element method that is able to approximate interface problems with high accuracy. We consider interface problems, where the solution is continuous, its derivatives however may be discontinuous across interface curves within the domain. The proposed discretization is based on a local modification of the finite element basis which corresponds to a fitted finite elemen...

A two-dimensional parallel quadtree finite element mesh generator

In this work we implement a parallel finite element mesh generator for two-dimensional regions, based on recursive spatial division techniques. The main formulation is based on spatial recursive decomposition techniques (RSD) combined with the MPI library. A data structure has been developed aimed at the reduction of inter-processor communication. Results are presented for generation of meshes ...

A Matlab mesh generator for the two-dimensional finite element method

A newMatlab code for the generation of unstructured (3-node or 6-node) triangular meshes in two dimensions is described. The method is based on the Matlab mesh generator distmesh of Persson and Strang [SIAM Rev. 46:329-345, 2004]. As input, the code takes a signed distance function for the domain geometry. A mesh size function, for the spatial node distribution, is constructed using an approxim...
