A validation of adult suicidal ideation questionnaire among Nigerian University students

Background: To prevent completed suicide among young adults in the university, assessment of suicidal ideation should be encouraged. This study aims to investigate reliability, exploratory factor analysis, and validity adult questionnaire Nigerian university students.
 Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional survey was preferred choice research design for this utilizing convenience sampling technique recruit participants. 6 universities divided into two equal numbers between federal-funded state-funded ones Nigeria were selected, 2,702 students sampled fill questionnaires. Instruments data collection included Rosenberg Self-esteem Kessler Psychological distress scale validate ASIQ. Ethical clearance collected from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria.
 Results: The results showed that internal consistency ASIQ .951 while analyses proved self-esteem psychological diverged converged respectively with three subdomains as measured by ASIQ.
 Conclusion: concludes has slight modification original version Nigeria. is reliable valid but a 22-item instrument on 5-point Likert scale.\
