A Thickness-Mode High-Frequency Underwater Acoustic Transducer with a Low Sidelobe Level

چکیده

Thickness vibration mode is commonly used for high-frequency transducers. For disc piezoelectric ceramics, there no ideally pure thickness because the coupling between radial and modes always exists. Furthermore, it also deteriorates transmission voltage response directivity of transducer. In this paper, based on theoretical calculation finite element simulation method, a new method was proposed, related experiment carried out to convince idea. Both analysis experimental results show that drilling hole at center simple but effective obtain ceramic, then improve transmitting ability The sidelobe level as low −21.3 dB.

Evaluation of underwater acoustic propagation model (Ray theory) in a river using Fluvial Acoustic Tomography System

Underwater acoustics is widely used in many applications, such as oceanography, marine biology, hydrography, fishery, etc. Different models are introduced to simulate the underwater acoustic propagation in the oceans and the seas. In this study, the Ray Theory model is used to simulate the acoustic wave propagation in a shallow-freshwater river (Gono River) located in western part of Japan. The...

Effect of Underwater Ambient Noise on Quadraphase Phase-shift Keying Acoustic Sensor Network Links in Extremely Low Frequency Band

This study evaluates the impact of underwater ambient noise using seven real noise samples; Dolphin, Rain, Ferry, Sonar, Bubbles, Lightning, and Outboard Motor in three frequency ranges in extremely low frequency (ELF) band. The ELF band is the most significant bandwidth for underwater long-range communication. ELF band which is extended from 3 to 3000 Hz clearly, faces bandwidth limitation. Me...

Frequency-domain integration of acoustic echo cancellation and a generalized sidelobe canceller with improved robustness

For hands-free acoustic human/machine interfaces, as required, e.g., for automatic speech recognition, teleconferencing, and other multimedia services, microphone arrays using generalized sidelobe cancellers (GSCs) in conjunction with acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) can be efficiently applied for optimum communication. This contribution first devises a new structure for combining AEC and GSC i...

Transducer Development and Characterization for Underwater Acoustic Neutrino Detection Calibration

A short bipolar pressure pulse with "pancake" directivity is produced and propagated when an Ultra-High Energy (UHE) neutrino interacts with a nucleus in water. Nowadays, acoustic sensor networks are being deployed in deep seas to detect this phenomenon as a first step toward building a neutrino telescope. In order to study the feasibility of the method, it is critical to have a calibrator that...

Thickness mode high frequency MEMS piezoelectric micro ultrasound transducers

Thickness mode piezoelectric micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) ultrasound transducers, operating in the 50-75 MHz range, have been fabricated using a composite sol gel technique in combination with wet etching. The composite sol gel technique involves producing a PZT powder/sol composite slurry, which when spun down yields films a few micrometers thick. Repeated layering, and infiltration, ...
