A Systematic Review of Augmented Reality Applications in Language Learning

Augmented reality (AR) is one of the emerging technologies gradually venturing into education field. Although AR strongly linked to subjects related Science, Mathematics, and Technology in schools tertiary education, there no mention non-technical subjects, such as language. Thus, this study aims discover application trends language learning skills prevalent usage. In systematic literature review, AR-related research began 2016 has continued be on rise. Furthermore, preferred used with technology required lower cognitive levels, identifying words, understanding meanings, spelling, pronouncing words. Based gap indicating rare usage for more complex critical skills, reading writing, hopes enlighten researchers, educators, developers focus developing applications languages other than English, incorporate higher-order outcomes activities, pursue qualitative investigations.
