چکیده
ObjectiveThe decision to undertake a major lower limb amputation can be complex. This review evaluates the performance of risk prediction tools in estimating mortality, morbidity, and other outcomes following amputation.MethodsA systematic was performed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane databases were searched identify studies reporting on that predict amputation. Outcome measures included accuracy tool predicting range post-operative complications, including mortality (both short long term), peri-operative need re-amputation, ambulation success. A narrative synthesis accordance with Guidance Conduct Narrative Synthesis In Reviews.ResultsThe search identified 518 database records. Twelve observational studies, evaluating 13 total cohort 61 099 amputations, included. One study external validation an existing tool, while all developed novel or modified pre-existing generic calculators. Two conducted novel/modified tools. Nine provided estimations two predictions likelihood ambulation, one re-amputation same higher level. Most demonstrated acceptable discrimination C statistic values ranging from 0.65 0.81. Tools complications (0.65 – 0.74) necessity (0.72) also acceptably. Blatchford Allman Russell outstanding functional mobility post-amputation (0.94). Overall, most at high bias poor validity.ConclusionThis several demonstrate objectively array important outcomes. However, methodological quality some poor, are generally lacking, there no outcomes, especially life. Reviews. validity.

Outcomes in lower limb amputation following trauma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
INTRODUCTION Lower limb amputation (LLA) is life-changing surgery. Shorter residual limbs are known to place greater physiological strain on patients than longer residual limbs; however, there is ongoing debate as to whether through-knee amputations are preferable to above-knee amputations. This analysis aims to resolve this question by systematically collecting and pooling published and unpubl...

BACKGROUND The study was performed to examine the hypothesis that functional outcomes following major lower-extremity trauma sustained in the military would be similar between patients treated with amputation and those who underwent limb salvage. METHODS This is a retrospective cohort study of 324 service members deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq who sustained a lower-limb injury requiring eith...
متن کاملRisk Factors for In-hospital Mortality and Reamputation Following Lower Limb Amputation
The backgrounds of patients undergoing lower limb amputation (LLA) have recently changed dramatically. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the main reason for LLA was traumatic injury.1–3) However, peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) have emerged as major causes of LLA. In recent studies, PVD and DM accounted for 61.0%–92.5% of LLAs.1–4) Previous studies have also reported hig...

OBJECTIVE To investigate factors that predict walking with a prosthesis after lower limb amputation. DESIGN Systematic literature review. METHODS A computer-aided literature search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL and the Cochrane Library was performed to identify studies published up to August 2007 that investigated factors that predicted walking ability after lower limb amputation. RESULTS A ...
