A System Dynamics Modeling Approach for Estimation of Oily Waste Generation From Marine Oil Spill Response: A Case Study of an Oil Spill in Central Coast of British Columbia

The understanding of waste generation is critical importance for effective oily management in marine oil spill response operation. A system dynamics model was developed this study to estimate the quantity generated from operations. Various aspects were considered, including weather conditions, spilled volume and characteristics, time, methods. types include recovered oil, water, sorbents, personal protection equipment, debris. validated using data collected an actual incident British Columbia, Canada. comparison estimation observed results showed average prediction accuracy 86%.
