Photoplethysmography is a method to visualize the variation in blood volume within tissues with light. The signal obtained has been used for monitoring of patients, interpretation diagnosis or extracting other physiological variables (e.g., pulse rate and oxygen saturation). However, photoplethysmography can be perturbed by external factors. Implementing methods evaluate quality allows one avoid misinterpretation while maintaining performance its applications.
