A Supervisory Control System for Automation of Horizontal Form-Fill-Seal Packaging Plant Based on Modified Atmosphere Technology

Abstract The packaging industry is one of the most important parts agricultural products processing. A popular method increasing shelf life modified atmosphere (MAP). main objective this paper was to increase adaptability and flexibility machines for different vegetables including lettuces, broccolis, cabbages, cauliflowers, etc. To achieve goal, a supervisory control data acquisition (SCADA)-based system designed developed controlling monitoring MAP process fresh vegetables. divided into three physical layers: field devices, remote terminal unit (RTU) master (MTU). For width adjuster system, R 2 , maximum error (ME), mean absolute (MAE) root square (RMSE) were obtained as 0.999, 8 mm, 2.96 mm 3.44 respectively. height R2, ME, MAE RMSE 0.994, 10 3.53 4.57 SCADA can be able accurately adjust speed conveyor temperature sealing jaws, based on desired values. gas injection unit, value 1.66 L/min, 0.557 L/min 0.667 recorded RMSE, Four types trends temperature, speed, flow digital parameter designed. In addition displaying screen alarms, occurred alarms are stored, automatically text file troubleshooting. Finally, results showed that reliably used various varieties
