A study to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding uses of umbilical cord blood storage among antenatal mothers in selected rural areas at Tumkur district with a view to develop an information booklet

Abstract: A Child is emotionally, physically bond to mother from the period of conception. The fetus receives its nutrition for survival through umbilical cord. placenta which attached uterus supplies essential nutrients growth and development. Umbilical cord a bridge between both fetus. Objectives: objectives study are assess knowledge regarding uses blood storage among antenatal mothers in selected rural areas andto attitude find out co-relation onuses however an association level with demographic variables finally variables. Methodology: descriptive co- relational approach was adopted study. Non probability convenient sampling technique were used collection data Structured questionnaire assessment 3 point Likert’s scale evaluation 100 at Tumkur District. Result: Result reveal that frequency percentage distribution age, most belongs 26-30 years,53%,almost 60 (60%) Hindus, 87 (87%) had higher seconder education,66 (66%) house wives,69 (69%) nuclear family,81(81%) income ranging 5001-10000, relation type 80(80%)of living pucca majority 70(70%)were got information professional health workers. Regarding mothers, mothers72(72.0%) having inadequate knowledge, 28 (28.0%) found have moderately adequate, 00 (0.0%) them adequate storage. present shows highest Mean score 3.86 SD 1.55 48.25% obtained on utilization importance lowest subjects 0.51 0.59 25.5% misbelieves side effects stem cell transplantation.
