A Study of Wave-Induced Effects on Sea Surface Temperature Simulations during Typhoon Events

چکیده

In this work, we investigate sea surface temperature (SST) cooling under binary typhoon conditions. We particularly focus on parallel- and cross-type paths during four events: Tembin Bolaven in 2012, Typhoon Chan-hom Linfa 2015. Wave-induced effects were simulated using a third-generation numeric model, WAVEWATCH III (WW3), subsequently included SST simulations the Stony Brook Parallel Ocean Model (sbPOM). Four wave-induced analyzed: breaking waves, nonbreaking radiation stress, Stokes drift. Comparison of WW3-simulated significant wave height (SWH) data with measurements from Jason-2 altimeter showed that root mean square error (RMSE) was less than 0.6 m correlation (COR) 0.9. When typhoon-wave-induced sbPOM simulations, SSTs had an RMSE 1 °C COR 0.99 as compared to Argos data. This better recovered between measured SSTs, which 1.4 0.96, respectively, when terms not included. particular, our results show drift, well important factor reduction typhoons. The horizontal profile sbPOM-simulated for parallel-type (Typhoons Bolaven) suggested observed finger pattern (up 2 °C) probably caused by drag Tembin. reduced up 4 Linfa). general, mixing significantly increased vertical indicated disturbance depth 100 m) because intensity greater typhoons

the effect of sea surface temperature and 2m air temperature on precipitation events in the southern coasts of caspian sea

there are a number of ideas to generate cloud and precipitation in the southern coasts of caspian sea, but none of them explain the cause of precipitation particularly heavy and super heavy precipitations precisely. this study describes main thermodynamic factors when the situation and location of synoptic patterns are effective. on the basis of daily data, monthly regimes and monthly trends of...

Influence of Noul Typhoon on Sea Surface Temperature, Heat Fluxes and Precipitation Rate

This paper presents how a typhoon can change the sea surface temperature (SST) and heat fluxes trend. As a case study, Noul typhoon was investigated over the South China Sea. It affected South China Sea from November 14 to November 17 in 2008. Using archived data of National Centers for Environmental Prediction / National Center for Atmospheric Research data set, the effects of Noul typhoon on ...

Effects of surface heat flux-induced sea surface temperature changes on tropical cyclone intensity

[1] It is known that in deep and open oceans, the effect of sea surface sensible and evaporative heat fluxes on the tropical cyclone-induced sea surface cooling is small compared to that caused by turbulent mixing and cold water entrainment into the upper ocean mixed-layer. This study shows that tropical cyclone-induced surface heat fluxes dominate the surface cooling in near-coastal shallow oc...
