Hereditarily Separable Groups and Monochromatic Uniformization
We give a combinatorial equivalent to the existence of a non-free hereditarily separable group of cardinality א1. This can be used, together with a known combinatorial equivalent of the existence of a non-free Whitehead group, to prove that it is consistent that every Whitehead group is free but not every hereditarily separable group is free. We also show that the fact that Z is a p.i.d. with i...
متن کاملStrongly separable codes
Binary t-frameproof codes (t-FPCs) are used in multimedia fingerprinting schemes where the identification of authorized users taking part in the averaging collusion attack is required. In this paper, a binary strongly t-separable code (t-SSC) is introduced to improve such a scheme based on a binary t-FPC. A binary t-SSC has the same traceability as a binary t-FPC but has more codewords than a b...
متن کاملStrongly homotopy algebras of a Kähler manifold
It is shown that any compact Kähler manifold M gives canonically rise to two strongly homotopy algebras, the first one being associated with the Hodge theory of the de Rham complex and the second one with the Hodge theory of the Dolbeault complex. In these algebras the product of two harmonic differential forms is again harmonic. If M happens to be a Calabi-Yau manifold, there exists a third st...
متن کاملA Model with No Strongly Separable Almost Disjoint Families
We answer a question of Shelah and Steprāns [6] by producing a model of ZFC where there are no strongly separable almost disjoint families. The notion of a strongly separable almost disjoint family is a natural variation on the well known notion of a completely separable almost disjoint family, and is closely related to the metrization problem for countable Fréchet groups.
متن کاملThe separable quotient problem and the strongly normal sequences
We study the notion of a strongly normal sequence in the dual E∗ of a Banach space E. In particular, we prove that the following three conditions are equivalent: (1) E∗ has a strongly normal sequence, (2) (E∗, σ(E∗, E)) has a Schauder basic sequence, (3) E has an infinite-dimensional separable quotient.
