چکیده

Abstract Background Microvascular decompression surgery for trigeminal neuralgia is now considered the benchmark surgical procedure intractable of any variety. The objective this study to share our experience in managing classical with microvascular looking into both immediate and late functional outcomes at 3 6 months post op. We also report a unique case due tributary petrosal vein passing through substance nerve itself its root entry zone. Results This included 20 patients; it showed that an effective method treatment classic ( p value < 0.001). was compressed by superior cerebellar artery 75% patients. A contributed compression 45% patients only compressing vessel 15%. Conclusion choice medically refractory neuralgia, unless their general condition prohibits it. It’s worth noting normal anatomy veins region quite variable venous structures causing neurovascular contact are more or less inconsistent. To best knowledge despite wide range progress first reported literature conflict caused itself.

Microvascular decompression surgery for trigeminal neuralgia.

Long-term follow-up data were analyzed to evaluate the surgical results of microvascular decompression (MVD). Among 1,324 patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TGN), who underwent MVD between 1976 and 2000, a consecutive 281 patients were followed and studied for 5-20 years as of the year of 1997. When the data were analyzed and compared in two groups (A: 1976-1986, B: 1987-1991), the postoperati...

Microvascular Decompression for Trigeminal Neuralgia.

BACKGROUND Trigeminal Neuralgia (TGN) is the most frequently diagnosed type of facial pain. In idiopathic type of TGN it is caused by the neuro-vascular conflict involving trigeminal nerve. Microvascular decompression (MVD) aims at addressing this basic pathology in the idiopathic type of TGN. This study was conducted to determine the outcome and complications of patients with idiopathic TGN un...

Microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia.

Eleven patients with intractable trigeminal neuralgia were treated by posterior fossa microvascular decompression. Complete pain relief was achieved in 7 patients (63.3%). Partial relief of symptoms was noted in 3 patients (27%). There was no operative mortality. Two patients developed transient lower cranial nerve palsies whereas one patient developed a CSF leak, requiring treatment by lumbar ...

Microvascular decompression treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.

PURPOSE The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of microvascular decompression treatment prospectively in 40 patients with trigeminal neuralgia who were resistant to medical treatments and underwent microvascular decompression surgery (MVDS) between the years 2008 and 2010. METHODS The patients' data were collected as per norms suggested by Zakrzewska and Lopez and followed...
