A simplified approach to modeling vertically irregular structures for dynamic assessment

چکیده
The nonlinear dynamic analysis is the most sophisticated evaluation method for vertically irregular structures under effect of earthquake because higher mode effects are significant. In particular, structure has a complex geometry, so errors can occur when inputting members as coordinates or defining properties members. Therefore, simplified modeling proposed in this paper. was developed by converting to geometrically regular using story stiffness equation. results modal analyses and obtained both typical exact methods were compared. As result, difference fundamental period about 11%, which evaluated ASCE 41 criterion governed models. addition, differences shear drift 15% 24%, respectively. be applied initial structural design stages save project time predicting approximate such shear, structures.
