A Secret Marriage and Denied Rights: A Critique from an Islamic Law Perspective

Today, secret marriages are a known problem among Muslims, but discussions and debates avoided. People who unwilling to take on the responsibilities of marriage yet do not want commit adultery, one major sins in Islam, practice marriages. However, this leads deprivation rights for parties children born these unions. Some claim that legal justification is provided by view presence witnesses be married sufficient contract. Therefore, article aims critically examine views four Sunnī schools testimony (shahada) or proclamation (i’lan) relation marriage, how conditions align with requirement protecting all involved marriage.
