A Safety Factor Method for Reliability-Based Component Design

چکیده
Abstract Reliability-based design (RBD) employs optimization to identify variables that satisfy the reliability requirement. For many routine component jobs do not need optimization, however, RBD may be applicable, especially for those which are performed manually or with a spreadsheet. This work develops modified approach so target can achieved by conducting traditional repeatedly using deterministic safety factor. The new is based on first-order method (FORM), iteratively assigns factor during process until requirement satisfied. In addition several iterations of design, other additional calculation derivatives margin respect random input variables. proposed used wide range applications. example, if spreadsheet, reliability-based design. Three examples demonstrate practicality method.

Component based method for enterprise application design
Component support has actually been enhanced with version 2.0 of the Unified Modeling Language and component appears as the best reusable unit of software, whereas more and more pre-built components are made available. However, reuse of components to build system remains a difficult task. Components are mostly identified in the late phases of the system development cycle without considering the...
متن کاملLarge-Scale Reliability Based Design Optimization For Vehicle Crash Safety
The focus of this paper is on a large-scale reliability based design optimization of a car body structure for crash safety. The application of multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) to automotive vehicle structure design has been an interest topic over the past several years (Yang et al. 1994, Schramm et al. 1999). Sobieski et al. (2000) and Kodiyalam et al. (2001) reported a method with v...
متن کاملTesting the Reliability of Component-Based Safety Critical Software
Testing remains a fundamentally important way to check that a software program behaves as required, but a weakness of testing is that successful testing only leads to informal quality statements. Even where quantitative methods are employed, it is not clear how the objective statements (e.g. 100% code coverage has been achieved) relate to the statements that are really useful such as “the softw...
متن کاملA new statistical method for design and analyses of component tolerance
Tolerancing conducted by design engineers to meet customers’ needs is a prerequisite for producing high-quality products. Engineers use handbooks to conduct tolerancing. While use of statistical methods for tolerancing is not something new, engineers often use known distributions, including the normal distribution. Yet, if the statistical distribution of the given variable is unknown, a new sta...
