Abstract We consider a linear system that consists of wave equation on horizontal hypersurface and parabolic in the half space below. The model describes longitudinal elastic waves organic monolayers at water–air interface, which is an experimental setup relevant for understanding propagation biological membranes. study scaling regime where length scale much larger than vertical provide rigorous limit leading to fractionally damped membrane. associated existence results via semigroup theory show convergence solutions limit. Moreover, based energy–dissipation structure full model, we derive natural energy dissipation function with time derivative order 3/2.

Rigorous derivation of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation.

The time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation describes the dynamics of initially trapped Bose-Einstein condensates. We present a rigorous proof of this fact starting from a many-body bosonic Schrödinger equation with a short-scale repulsive interaction in the dilute limit. Our proof shows the persistence of an explicit short-scale correlation structure in the condensate.

A rigorous derivation of the time-dependent Reynolds equation

We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the evolution Stokes equation in a thin three-dimensional domain bounded by two moving surfaces in the limit as the distance between the surfaces approaches zero.
