Abstract Scale formation is one of the major issues in petroleum industry. The development these scale layers could result production losses and equipment instability because pipeline blockage, energy leakage, corrosion acceleration severe accidents which will impact safety process. utilization chemical inhibitors (SIs) considered an economical successful route for prevention. Two main components SIs are phosphonate polymer. Many phosphorous compounds toxic very expensive. Besides, portions thermally less stable than polymeric a harsh environment high temperature pressure (HTHP). This as issue good inhibitor should be able to applied under wide range pressure. Therefore, continuous imposes need develop novel phosphorus-free inhibitor. Meanwhile, polymers have been broadly oil gas fields their enhanced thermal stability improved environmental compatibility. Polymeric also show better dispersing efficiency. Today, biopolymers pulled tremendous consideration from industry replace synthetic polymer due interesting qualities such lightness, strong mechanical properties, appealing functionality. Biopolymers insensitive toward brine salinity yet vulnerable biological degradation. Specifically, present enormous potential application biodegradability, adaptability reactivity, biocompatibility, nontoxicity. Recently, several new eco-friendly reported literature. Hence, this paper provides review biopolymer laboratory approach or field trial application. types scales, likewise reviewed here. presented work expected enhance fundamental understanding formation, well contribute process inhibitors.
