This paper focuses on the state-of-the-art of unit commitment (UC) and economic dispatch (ED) algorithms suitable for Italian electricity market. In view spread renewable energy systems (RES), desired UC algorithm should be able to properly consider uncertainty affecting key input variables into formulation problem, as well different capabilities dispatched power plants provide ancillary services (e.g., voltage regulation). The goal this is resume developments in ED which occurred last decades, having a particular focus alternating current (AC) security constrained (SC) approaches stochastic ones, highlighting advantages weakness each technique. review useful TSO (Terna) investigate what best solution formulate new potentially adopted framework Ancillary Service Market, striving an explicit modelization constraints. also all system operators (SOs), independently market environment they operate, because are widely ensure real-time systems. conclusion, SC-UC takes account both AC does not exist.
