Evolutionary auto-tuning algorithm for PID controllers ⋆
In this work, an auto-tuning procedure for PID controllers is presented. This autotuning procedure identifies a FOPDT model for a given process and uses an evolutionary algorithm to solve a constrained non-convex optimization problem to adjust the parameters of a PID controller with derivative filter. The auto-tuning procedure is validated with a set of process with different characteristics. P...
متن کاملAuto-tuners for PID Controllers
PID control is used everywhere—in cellular phones, vehicles, process control, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, machine tools, and motor drives. Many PID controllers are found in cars, for example, in engine, cruise, and traction control. PID control is also embedded in instruments like atomic force microscopes and adaptive optics. Because of their widespread use, it is difficult to preci...
متن کاملOptimal design of PID controllers using the QFT method
An optimisation algorithm is proposed for designing PID controllers, which minimises the asymptotic open-loop gain of a system, subject to appropriate robuststability and performance QFT constraints. The algorithm is simple and can be used to automate the loop-shaping step of the QFT design procedure. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated with an example.
متن کاملMulti criteria H∞ optimal PID controllers from an undergraduate perspective
A simple design method for robust PID controllers is presented. It is based on a multi criteria H∞ optimal control formulation, which is shown to be easily solved by a few lines of MATLAB code. This optimal solution for PID controllers including low pass filtering, is complemented by a simple paper and pen solution that can be used to obtain nearly optimal solutions. The presented approach is s...
متن کاملAnalysis and Design of Software-Based Optimal PID Controllers
A large process industry can have somewhere between five hundred and five thousand control loops, and PID controllers are used in 90–97% of the cases. It is well-known that only 20–30% of the controllers in the process industry are tuned satisfactorily, but with the methods available today it is considered too time-consuming to optimize each single controller. This thesis presents tools for ana...
