چکیده
Debris-flow modeling is a great challenge due to its complex physical mechanism that remains poorly understood. The present research incorporates the effect of rheological features non-Newtonian fluid into complete quasi-single-phase mixture model, which explicitly accommodates interactions between flow, non-uniform sediment transport, and bed evolution. estimated by Hersch–Bulkley–Papanastasiou model can be simplified Bingham or Newtonian models with specific coefficients. governing equations are solved fully conservative numerical algorithm, using an explicit finite volume discretization well-balanced slope-limited centered scheme combined implicit method. One set large-scaled U.S. Geological Survey debris-flow experiments applied investigate influence on modeling. It found closed performs better than without considering features, may facilitate development for debris flows.

Incompressible Non-Newtonian Fluid Flows
A non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid whose flow properties differ in many ways from those of Newtonian fluids. Most commonly the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids is not independent of shear rate or shear rate history. In practice, many fluid materials exhibits non-Newtonian fluid behavior such as: salt solutions, molten, ketchup, custard, toothpaste, starch suspensions, paint, blood, and shampoo e...
متن کاملA two-fluid model for avalanche and debris flows.
Geophysical mass flows--debris flows, avalanches, landslides--can contain O(10(6)-10(10)) m(3) or more of material, often a mixture of soil and rocks with a significant quantity of interstitial fluid. These flows can be tens of meters in depth and hundreds of meters in length. The range of scales and the rheology of this mixture presents significant modelling and computational challenges. This ...

متن کاملNewtonian Limit for Weakly Viscoelastic Fluid Flows
This article addresses the low Weissenberg asymptotic analysis (Newtonian limit) of some macroscopic models of viscoelastic fluid flows in the framework of global weak solutions. We investigate the convergence of the corotational Johnson-Segalman, the FENE-P, the Giesekus and PTT models. Relying on a priori bounds coming from energy or free energy estimates, we first study the weak convergence ...
متن کاملJeffery Hamel Flow of a non-Newtonian Fluid
This paper presents the Jeffery Hamel flow of a non-Newtonian fluid namely Casson fluid. Suitable similarity transform is applied to reduce governing nonlinear partial differential equations to a much simpler ordinary differential equation. Variation of Parameters Method (VPM) is then employed to solve resulting equation. Same problem is solved numerical by using Runge-Kutta order 4 method. A c...
