A Quantitative Model of Human Jejunal Smooth Muscle Cell Electrophysiology

چکیده
The Poh et al. (2012) paper describes the first biophysically based computational model of human jejunal smooth muscle cell (hJSMC) electrophysiology. ionic currents are described by either a traditional Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) formalism or deterministic multi-state Markov (MM) formalism. We create modularized CellML implementation model, which is able to reproduce clamping behaviours individual and whole action potential traces. In addition, some inconsistencies have been uncovered discussed in this paper. EDITOR'S NOTE (v2): A typographical correction reproducibility report was made. (v3): This Abstract appended with note on changes made versions.

A Quantitative Model of Human Jejunal Smooth Muscle Cell Electrophysiology
Recently, a number of ion channel mutations have been identified in the smooth muscle cells of the human jejunum. Although these are potentially significant in understanding diseases that are currently of unknown etiology, no suitable computational cell model exists to evaluate the effects of such mutations. Here, therefore, a biophysically based single cell model of human jejunal smooth muscle...

Activation of chloride currents and release of internally sequestered Ca(2+) in airway smooth muscle have long been associated with excitation and contraction. Surprisingly, however, two recent publications (Deshpande DA, Wang WC, McIlmoyle EL, Robinett KS, Schillinger RM, An SS, Sham JS, Liggett SB. متن کاملATP is a mediator of the fast inhibitory junction potential in human jejunal circular smooth muscle.
The neurotransmitter(s) that generates the fast component of the inhibitory junction potential (IJP-F) in human jejunal circular smooth muscle is not known. The aim of this study was to determine the role of ATP and purinergic receptors in the generation of the IJP-F in human jejunal circular smooth muscle strips. The P2-receptor antagonist suramin (100 μM) reduced the IJP-F by 28%. Apamin (1 μ...
متن کاملA quantitative in vitro model of smooth muscle cell migration through the arterial wall using the human amniotic membrane.
OBJECTIVE The development of intimal hyperplasia involves smooth muscle cell (SMC) migration into the intima and proliferation. Matrix metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors play important roles in this process. In this study, we describe a novel in vitro model for studying SMC migration through the vessel wall. METHODS AND RESULTS Human aortic SMCs (hASMCs) labeled with 125I-iododeox...
