چکیده
The enhanced mechanical behavior of polymer nanocomposites with spherical filler particles is attributed to the formation matrix-filler interphases. nano-scale leads particularly high interphase volume fractions while rendering experimental investigations extremely difficult. Previously, we introduced a molecular dynamics-based model capturing crucial spatial profiles elastic and inelastic properties inside interphase. This contribution demonstrates that our captures nanocomposites’ essential characteristics reported from experiments. To this end, thoroughly verify validate before discussing resulting local plastic strain distribution. Furthermore, obtain reinforcement in terms overall stiffness for smaller higher contents, influence particle spacing seems negligible, matching observations literature. paper proposes methodology unravel underlying complex translate findings into engineering quantities accessible broader audience technical applications.

A closed-form, hierarchical, multi-interphase model for composites—Derivation, verification and application to nanocomposites
A closed form Hierarchical Multi-interphase Model (HMM) based on the classical elasticity theory is proposed to study the influence of the interphase around inclusions on the enhancement mechanism of composites in the elastic regime. The HMM is verified by three-dimensional Finite Element simulations and highly consistent results are obtained for the cases with relatively low stiffness ratios (...

In this work, the Z interphase parameter which determines the tensile strength of interphase layers in polymer nanocomposites is presented as a function of various material and interphase properties. In this regard, the simple Pukanszky model for tensile strength of polymer nanocomposites is applied and the dependency of Z to different characteristics of constituents and interphase are illustra...

A three-dimensional micromechanics-based analytical model is developed to study thermo-mechanical properties of polymer composites reinforced with randomly distributed silica nanoparticles. Two important factors in nanocomposites modeling using micromechanical models are nanoparticle arrangement in matrix and interphase effects. In order to study these cases, representative volume element (RVE)...

متن کاملModel Verification and Validation
In this paper we outline practical techniques and guidelines for verifying and validating simulation models. The goal of verification and validation is a model that is accurate when used to predict the performance of the real-world system that it represents, or to predict the difference in performance between two scenarios or two model configurations. The process of verifying and validating a m...
