New sources are needed long-term; otherwise, will only become harder as global supply shrinks. Compact Accelerator-based Neutron Sources (CANS) offer possibility an intense source neutrons a capital cost lower than spallation sources. In this paper, we propose CANS The proposal is staged first stage offering medium flux, linear accelerator-based approach that also coupled boron capture therapy (BNCT) station and positron emission tomography (PET) isotope production station. serve prototype second stage: higher brightness, facility could be viewed national centre applications.
