A Proposal for a User-Oriented Spatial Metadata Profile

Spatial metadata profiles have been designed and evolved by data custodians to manage, share, discover, use spatial data. The end-users of often do not much input in designing the profiles. infrastructure literature reveals that they question usability metadata. This paper analyzes engaging clarifying their requirements response this problem. Over 60 users from 18 countries were engaged using an online survey based on a purposive sampling method. results show most widely used standard, ISO 19115, provides elements accommodate user for searches. However, extension standard is necessary assist discovery selection. Two new are proposed as part extension. also involves changing obligation type existing improve discovery.
