A Practical Implementation of Brackish Water Treatment with Local Material in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, Indonesia

Indonesia, an archipelago with vast coastal areas consisting of 809 villages, still faces the same problems clean water scarcity and accessibility. This research goals are to discover appropriate inexpensive local filtering media lower salinity brackish in Sidoarjo Regency Indonesia. Regarding previous invention research, this study deploy experimental method by physical experiment including materials along chemical experiment: ion exchangers as well reverse osmosis (RO). The outcomes demonstrate that filtration utilizing a combination 10-micron filter, kaolin, zeolite, activated carbon, kaolin is best produce most transparent, odorless water. It can reduce Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) Electrical Conductivity (EC) values 8.59% 7.18%, pH levels 2.59%. On other hand, exchange achieve 99.5% 67% reductions TDS EC values, respectively.
